Our Work July 2024 - Current with Temwa
From July 2024, our work with Temwa has balanced 116.53 Tonnes of CO2e emissions relating to Artist travel for F-10's bookings.

Our Efforts
At F-10, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and are actively working towards having as minimal impact as possible. We offset every artist’s transport emissions by investing in renewable projects and community led forestation projects .
We have adopted a hybrid working model that allows our staff to work from home when required and have digitised our paperwork, reducing the need for printing and paper waste.
In late 2022, staff member Mark Ashby undertook a research project as part of his Masters to quantify and analyse F-10 artist’s travel emissions around events.
Following this, we created a plan in order to reduce our emissions.
Offsetting Carbon Emissions
Â
In the live event sector, audience travel emissions are the most significant part of emissions associated with events. Whilst this is difficult to have any impact on, we can reduce the emissions of artist travel to ensure that our artists travel is carbon neutral.
For every booking made with F-10, a scalable fee is charged to the promoter of the event, which the artist matches out of their fees. F-10 also matches this with an equivalent percentage commission. This fee changes depending on the travel methods required for that specific booking, costing more for high emission travel methods such as flights.
Prior to July 2024, this was paid to our previous partner Ecologi, where approximately 10 trees were planted per booking with the rest going towards renewable projects such as renewable energy or carbon avoidance / removal projects. The figures for this period can be seen at the top of this page.
However, due to reported discrepancies within the Carbon Credit sector, we changed supplier to Temwa in July 2024. Temwa are a community-led development, working with people in hard to reach rural areas of northern Malawi, bringing local communities together to both end poverty in the regiono and build climate resilience without dealing in the carbon credit market.Â
Temwa carbon balance
Temwa Carbon Balance is more than just tree planting, it’s protecting communities from devastating effects of climate change. Communities across the globe are already experiencing the very real effects of climate change with spells of extreme weather becoming a common characteristic of the landscape in places like Malawi. Temwa Carbon Balance is all about creating healthy soil so families can be food secure, keeping trees planted in the ground by promoting community governance, and promoting sustainable forest management practices in local communities.

The Future
To continue to push and reduce our carbon footprints, adjustments will inevitably need to be made in the future to ensure that we are maximising low carbon opportunities and making the most out of any new carbon avoidance technologies, and deal with any issues that may arise from our current methodology.
In the future, we plan to:
- Limit the use of domestic flights, aiming to phase them out completely by 2025 / use them only where absolutely necessary.
- Aiming for runs of shows to maximise low carbon emission travel methods.
- Reduce excess artist travel.
- Conduct another yearly review to analyse the impact of implemented recommendations versus carbon emissions released and analyse any further improvements in lowering carbon emissions before carbon offsetting is used.
